New Year, New Adventures Part I

January 04, 2016

I'm spending the new year in Seattle, Washington with my family since I had some credit on my Southwest account. It's one of my top favorite cities to travel, not just because I have family and friends here, but because I always have the most amazing time exploring and taking photos. To be honest though, the family and friends part make up like 80% of why I love visiting. ;)

We treated the new year like Christmas since we had presents for family here and we couldn't celebrate with the day of. When it was my turn to open my gift from my brother and sister-in-law (Viri), I was extremely excited. I even got my little helper (niece Juliet) to help open my present, haha. When I opened it, I was super stoked to see that I had gotten Star Wars shoes! When I opened up the box, to my surprise I had gotten something Star Wars that was super exclusive. "LIMITED EDITION YODA SLIPPERS! WHAT I'VE ALWAYS WANTED!" I laughed as I put them on. Honestly love my prankster family. Viri brought out the real shoes and it was some Stormtrooper Vans. AW YEAH!

That quality though!

This past weekend we went to a place called Snoqualmie Pass. Definitely the most snow I've seen my entire life. We went from green trees to them being completely covered in snow. It was mostly a short family trip so we could see what Narnia looks like in person. There were tons of skiers and snowboarders having the time of their life. After taking a few family photos, I went out to explore by myself. I went straight to some trees where no one was hanging out in. I was being cautious because being from California, I didn't know how to snow. I walked into the forest and was greeted with what I later found out was "soft snow". My leg sunk into the snow and basically I'm now a snow expert, haha. I left that part of the forest on search for another location with less soft snow.

Walking towards the car, I saw some people sliding down a part of the snow that was definitely also climbable, I decided to give it a go since it looked like it was a bit safer. Walking passed the people, I noticed that there was a walkable open field. The whole time I went into Man vs Wild mode in case I saw a dangerous animal or I sunk into the snow and had to eat my own arm for survival. Once I got to the open field, I lost track of footsteps, which I assumed that everywhere else was covered in soft snow so I just took photos from where I was. At this point, my gloves were already a bit wet from sliding down the hill and started to loose feeling in my hands. My iPhone also kind of froze that it shut down by itself. Goodbye queued snapchats! After being mesmerzied by the amount of beauty I had captured, I decided to go back to the car where the rest of my family was waiting for me. The photos don't do this place justice. I'd look at the back of my screen and then back to the awesome landscape and thought that I just couldn't capture the beauty that nature actually is.

Dog Sitting in Seattle

November 25, 2013

Last week I was in Seattle, Washington again for six days dog sitting while my brother and his wife took care of some work related things. If you read my last Seattle post, you know that I fell in love with the place and would take the chance to go back. I had to sacrifice a few events, especially my boyfriends show but he definitely understood haha. The day I was leaving I almost missed my flight. It was my first time flying alone and even though I thought I was on top of things, I checked the screens again because I thought boarding the plane was taking a bit too long. Luckily, it was around the corner. I boarded the plane and it all went smoothly from there. I had a window seat and I had to take pictures of the beautiful sky. I might have mentioned before that I'm kind of scared of heights but when I'm on the plane, it's like no such thing exists. It's probably because I have no other choice but I deal with it very well.

I had to take some good literature with me on the plane.

It was raining the night I got there but the rest of the days I was there, it was clear skies but it was freezing cold. Apparently I took the rain and dropped it over San Diego while I was gone, sorry guys but I dislike the rain a lot. The first day I got there I hung out with Megg and Oli (my brothers dogs) in the day and at night I caught a concert and met up with a few friends.

The next day I decided to kick it at home, watch movies, catch up on my newest show obsession, Chuck, and re-make some of my favorite scenes from some awesome movies on my instagram.

Thursday came along and my friend Michael and I explored Woodinville and came across an awesome neighborhood. He was awesome enough to model for me in the cold. Such a trooper.

I had an appointment the next day to get a tour of an art school I've been looking into, I didn't get any pictures of it because I was freezing to another level once I got there after an hour on the bus and what seemed like the longest walk ever. Sorry y'all. It went well though and the school was neat. After that my friend had hooked me up with a paid gig of shooting a live band called Afterwords. They were some of the nicest guys and their music was rad.

They had played with Sainthood Reps, Diamond Youth, Citizen and Polar Bear Club but I wasn't feeling well and I didn't know how long the buses were running and the house was an hour away via public transportation so I left after their set. The struggle. I got home safely and drank some tea to make me feel better. Whoever invented tea, I love you.

The NEXT day was my BIRTHDAY. Wooo! I turned 22 and I had lost my voice. I spent it watching Chuck, The Conjuring and cuddling with some of the cutest pups. It wasn't until later that night that my brother and his wife Viri arrived and we played some x-box uno and celebrated with pizza. I couldn't have asked for a cooler birthday despite of being sick. I'm not one to go out drinking/partying so to me, this was perfect.

The next day, sadly, I had to fly back home. Got a window seat again and took pictures like crazy.

When I got home, I had some delicious food that my mom made and later that night two of my friends and I went to go watch Catching Fire and IT WAS SO GOOD. My trip ruled and I already miss it. Especially that clean air and those mesmerizing trees I love so much. Until next time, Seattle!
